SrHigh

The Student Ministry of Woodland Park exists to lead teenagers into a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and to equip them to make disciples. The ministry strives to properly present the teachings of Jesus Christ in a way that is meaningful and relevant to students through approaches such as teaching, music, small groups, service projects, camps, mission trips, and various other events.

In today’s culture, it is not an easy task to rear godly teenagers. The Student Ministry desires to come alongside parents and partner with them in their God-given mandate of raising godly teens who will impact the next generation for Christ.

Sunday Mornings

Each Sunday morning the Sr. High students (grades 9-12) meet in Room 140 at 9 AM for a large group teaching time. All students are then dismissed to small groups for discussion where connecting with each other is possible and application from the teaching time is made by an adult small group leader.

Sunday Nights

House Groups create an opportunity for students to learn and discuss what they believe about Jesus in a "living room" environment. We believe students who sit around the living room together and talk about their faith are able to share more freely and build stronger friendships. We just launched our House Groups in the Fall of 2017 and have filled 3 homes in the East Brainerd area with students. We are currently reading and discussing the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan. For more information about how to get plugged in at a House Group contact Justin or Kelly

Wednesday Nights

The Escape is our Wednesday night "getaway" for Sr. High students. Everyone is ready for a midweek break, so we want to offer a time to "Escape" from the burdens of this world and find rest in God's Word. On Wednesday nights, we will join our SrHigh student band for a time of worshiping Jesus together followed by studying Scripture word for word and understanding its importance in our lives.

Prime (Sixth Grade)

Sixth grade! A year of transition, growth, and new adventures! We are so excited to be part of your sixth graders life this year, and we have so many great things planned for them. As you walk through this year of transition and change, we want to partner with you as parents to help your sixth grader know and love Jesus more. We believe there are some key areas that will strengthen your student’s faith and help them build a foundation for the years to come. We want to help them build a foundation of a quiet time, inductive Bible study, and understanding the Biblical roles of a man and woman. We want to partner with you this year as we teach on these foundational truths.

Sunday Mornings

Each Sunday morning  at 9 AM our Prime classes meet separated by gender. The focus of both classes is to understand the Biblical role of a man and a woman in life. We believe this is a foundational belief for sixth graders to understand. Here is a description of each of those classes:

Girls Classled by Monica Roberts and Leslie Russell | Rm. 164

Sixth grade girls will study Jonah, Ruth, and Esther. These books were chosen to help the girls understand obedience, character, love for God and others, purpose and God's will, God's protection, and God's love for His people, among other things.

Guys Classled by Rick Russell and Daniel Whittenburg | Rm. 154

Sixth grade boys will spend the year going through different character studies in the Bible focusing on what it means to be a man of God. As they study men like Moses and King David, they will learn what it takes to become a man of God.

Sunday Nights

Guys | Girls (Coed) Bible Study – Led by Mickey and Kristen Hammel | Rm. 173

Jesus said, "Come, follow Me!" Will you? What will it take? Get past the fear of commitment and learn about the freedom of walking in Christ. Discover the marks and joys of the true follower of Jesus Christ.  Using Precept’s 40-minute study Being a Disciple, Counting the Real Cost you will study the Bible inductively and explore what it means to count the cost, deny yourself, and follow Christ.

Wednesday Nights

Led by “Dr Chris" and "Mrs. Mary Anna" Coleman | Rm 173

Step up in your FAITH!!!  This Fall, come study Hebrews chapter 11 with us.  The chapter that is often called the "Hall of Faith".  As we explore God's Word together, our heart is to encourage 6th graders to read the Bible daily, to pray, and to dig deeper into their own faith in Jesus Christ.  Our study is made especially for this age group and is full of applications from the Word especially for this stage of their lives.
